Lukashenko: Sovereignty and security are held sacred in Belarus

Lukashenko: Sovereignty and security are held sacred in Belarus

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – Sovereignty and security are held sacred in Belarus, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during the State of the Nation Address on 21 April, BelTA has learned.

According to the head of state, no one can be allowed to violate these values. “For me, for all those present here and for the vast majority of Belarusian people, stability, security, independence and sovereignty are sacred things. If someone makes an attempt to violate them, we will use the full power of our state,” the president said.

“Is Ukraine not enough for you? You see what your policy in Ukraine has led to. I do not want this to happen in Belarus. I do not want to beat people or shoot at them. I have made a decision to prevent these clashes. You see what is happening. People with ammunition, with weapons make their way into the country from all sides. What will people say when there will be clashes at every intersection?” Alexander Lukashenko said.

“Please, do not tell me that I have not changed. Because I have. I will not interfere until some point. But if our security agencies and I see that the red line is crossed, we will take tough measures. Better you condemn us than the Belarusian people,” Alexander Lukashenko underlined.

“Do you want to destabilize the situation in Belarus as well? Do you want to bring chaos to the country? Enough of that already. The whole Europe is on fire. You have to stop. If we can do something to help the situation, other countries should learn from Belarus. We are ready to work hard to do it,” the president said.

Lukashenko: Peace and territorial integrity of Belarus are safely protected

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – Peace and territorial integrity of Belarus are safely protected, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in his State of the Nation Address on 21 April, BelTA has learned.

“We rely on diplomacy, but we cannot rule out the possibility of unexpected events. With the international situation deteriorating, matters of external and internal security of our peace-loving country come to the fore. The Belarusian army is the most convincing argument for calming the hotheads. The army is mobile, well-trained and equipped with modern weapons. The people of Belarus can rest sure that their peaceful life, the country’s territorial integrity are safely protected,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The head of state stressed that Belarus managed to build up its defensive capacity using its own resources. The communication and navigation equipment, the pool of combat-capable trainer aircraft have been upgraded. “Belarus is developing a new military industry sector, rocket and missile engineering. The domestically made multiple-launch rocket system Polonez, an effective deterrent weapon, was successfully tested in 2016,” the Belarusian leader said.

Over the past several years, Belarus has rolled out the armored reconnaissance vehicle Stalker, new modifications of the antitank missile system Shershen, and other products. Alexander Lukashenko said that the Belarusian military vehicles and equipment meet world-class standards, which will be demonstrated during military exercises.
