Lukashenko, Shved discuss reformation of forensic examination system

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Chairman of the State Forensic Examination Committee of Belarus Andrei Shved to receive his report on 23 March, BelTA informs.

“I am ready to listen to your report on the improvement of the forensic examination system. I would like to know about the level that we’ve reached, especially in comparison with Russia and other states. How do you interact with foreign groups of experts, forensic specialists?” Aleksandr Lukashenko wondered.

The president recalled that the State Forensic Examination Committee was founded virtually from the scratch. Before that, systematic work was not arranged in many fields in the country, specialists did not have necessary equipment. “Our objective was to advance forensic examination to higher level across the board in order to raise the efficiency of criminal investigation. Did we success in building this system? Can it continue to work independently like it is doing now? There are many proposals, for example, to put it under authority of a different organization or to change subordination. I don’t want to do this, but we need progress. If the organization is efficient, there’s no need to break anything,” the head of state emphasized.

According to Andrei Shved, the State Forensic Examination Committee was founded seven years ago. In his words, the Belarusian system of forensic examination is unique and independent; this is the best system in the post-Soviet space. “We are making progress and improving something every year,” he added.
