MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – There is no tension in the relations between Belarus and Russia, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“It is important we now discuss our foreign political cooperation in the international arena. We also might discuss some issues concerning the Belarusian-Russian relations, although, fortunately, there is no tension, no emergency here,” Alexander Lukashenko said addressing the Foreign Minister of Russia.
The President of Belarus stated that this year when the two countries mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations has become very productive for mutual relations. Belarus has been visited by the President of the Russian Federation, the Premier and the Speakers of the two chambers of the Russian parliament. The Foreign Ministries of the two countries actively cooperate as well. “We have very good relations between the foreign ministries. I wish other ministries had the same relations as our foreign ministries do,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
According to the Belarusian head of state, the two countries make considerable headway in economic cooperation, see a solid growth of the mutual sales turnover.
