Lukashenko demands real improvement of doing business conditions in Belarus

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – It is essential to ensure real improvement of doing business conditions in Belarus, President Alexander Lukashenko said at the session with the members of the working group on the improvement of audit activities and eradication of excessive requirements to business on 14 February, BelTA has learned.

“The revision of legal acts should be one of the results of our common efforts. We need to ensure real improvement of doing business conditions in Belarus which will be praised by economic operators,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko remarked that the members of the working group which included the representatives of government bodies and business circles need to prepare and submit concrete proposals by the end of Q1 2017.

It is true that these reproaches and criticism are justified,” the President said.

He remarked that about 450 inspections take place in the country every day. Of course, some of them are needed. However, sometimes auditors visit enterprises with unscheduled inspections at least 50 times per year.

“We have begun to promote and develop the new economy. I absolutely support and prioritize its main objective: this economy should lift the burden from business people,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “If people want and can work, provide for their families, if it benefits the state, we must provide comprehensive assistance to such people.”

Some of them wanted it for self-fulfillment, others wanted to line their pockets, decide people’s fate. How many people can be good businessmen?” the head of state said.

In this context, Alexander Lukashenko urged the members of the working group not to forget about the other side of the story: it is important to focus on doing business conditions. An entrepreneur should be a good manager, economist, accountant, etc. Only proactive people thinking about the future of their business can become excellent entrepreneurs, the President stressed.

He remarked that unsuccessful businessmen often blame the state for their failures. They say that they failed because of the absence of certain conditions.
