MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – Belarus needs to overcome the negative trends in economy and achieve sustainable development, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said when addressing the Belarusian Parliament on 7 October, BelTA has learned.
As he spoke about future activities of the MPs and the country as a whole, the head of state emphasized that they are facing challenging and responsible tasks. “The country needs to overcome the negative trends in economy and achieve fast-paced, sustainable development,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.
“All the conditions are in place for that. The main of them is the unity of the people and the political will of the country’s leadership to move forward, which was eloquently demonstrated by the past parliamentary elections,” the Belarusian leader said.
“It is true that our economy is facing challenges today, but they are surmountable, not disastrous. These challenges are a result of our mistakes. Mainly those of the government. The major issues are associated with our exports. Still, our economic model has demonstrated certain resilience, ability to survive under the most unfavorable domestic and international market conditions,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.
