Lukashenko: Belarus needs peace and tranquility in contrast with the external situation
MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – Against the background of the external situation Belarus should preserve peace and tranquility inside the country. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement as he met with Chairman of the State Security Committee (KGB) Valery Vakulchik on 18 July, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Lukashenko said: “I cannot but be concerned about the situation unfolding around Belarus. Thank god, we’ve been able to suppress all kinds of negative manifestations so far. We notice if any disturbances emerge. But what is going on around us, in Ukraine, and considering the latest decisions of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization… We’ve seen problems in Turkey, in Armenia, in Kazakhstan.”
“The situation is grave. Whatever it may cost us we should preserve tranquility and peace in our country,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko.
The meeting also touched upon the high-profile criminal cases, which are being investigated by the KGB and which investigation is overseen by the KGB. “I don’t want slow progress in that field,” said the head of state.
