Lukashenko: Belarus’ law enforcement system should be most effective

Lukashenko: Belarus’ law enforcement system should be most effective

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian law enforcement system should be as effective as possible, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the government’s meeting held on 10 March to consider the performance of the law enforcement bodies in 2016 and ways to optimize the country’s law enforcement and judicial systems, BelTA has learned.

“The lack of development momentum in the law enforcement sector inevitably leads to lagging and stagnation. To make progress we should regularly analyze the existing defects in the sector and remove them promptly. Requirements to the country’s law enforcement system will be getting tougher. This is an open secret. It should be as effective and optimal as possible. The law enforcement sector cannot stay aside from the processes taking place in the country in general,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

These include timely detection and suppression of antisocial behaviors, the highest respect for the rule of law, and the inadmissibility of bringing criminal or administrative charges against innocent persons,” the head of state noted.
