STOLBTSY DISTRICT, 21 April (BelTA) – The money earned during the National Clean-Up Day on 21 April will be used to upgrade the healthcare infrastructure ahead of the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov told the media, BelTA has learned.

“The part of the money that will be sent to the republican fund will be spent on further purchase of equipment for the Minsk City Emergency Hospital as part of the preparations for the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019. according to the estimates, we need to build up the capacities that provide medical services to those who may need it,” said Andrei Kobyakov.

The Belarus prime minister took part in the event to plant trees in Stolbtsy Forestry. Other representatives of the Belarus Council of Ministers also worked there as part of the clean-up day there. They planted pines and birches on the areas deforestated because of the onslaught of bark-beetle.

Planting trees on the National Clean-Up Day has become a tradition for the government members. The Belarus prime minister noted that such sort of activity in the fresh air is very useful for the people who work in offices a lot. Moreover it contributes to ecology. “It is obvious that forests are the lungs of the nature. We breathe and live thanks to them. And for our country, the forest is an important resource, one of the few we have. It is important for us to use it and constantly renew it. And this is exactly what we are doing today,” said the prime minister. “The results of what was done will be observed in a couple of years, and these results could be used by future generations,” noted Andrei Kobyakov.

The government estimates that more than three million Belarusians took part in the clean-up day. “The atmosphere of holiday coupled with work and great usefulness of what we do create a good mood. I am sure millions of our citizens taking part in the clean-up day today feel the same,” Andrei Kobyakov added.

Reportedly, half of the sum earned during the clean-up day will go to the Belarusian Finance Ministry. This money will be used to buy medical equipment for the Minsk City Emergency Hospital for setting up additional 24/7 emergency rooms and also extra beds in case participants and guests of the European Games MINSK 2019 need any emergency hospital care.

Another 50% of the money earned during the clean-up day will remain at the disposal of the regional authorities and the Minsk City Hall. The money will be spent to improve and tidy up the population centers including agricultural settlements,to upkeep memorial complexes, sites of combat and military glory, burial places of soldiers and partisans of the Great Patriotic War and also to prepare sports and health-improvement summer camps for children.
