Draft Union State budget for 2015 close to RUB5bn

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – The draft budget of the Union State of Belarus and Russia for 2015 was approved to the tune of nearly RUB5 billion at the session of the Union State Council of Ministers in Minsk on 21 October, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev during the press conference held after the session of the Union State Cabinet.

“We are pleased with the results we have reached today. We discussed economy, investments, measures designed to contribute to larger trade turnover because it has shrunk somewhat lately. However, all the chances to get it back to the steady growth track are available,” noted the Russian head of government. Speaking about other results of the meeting, he pointed out that they had put some groundwork into innovative programs. Priorities of joint activities for the period till 2017 were discussed. Dmitry Medvedev said he was confident that Belarus and Russia have a potential for manufacturing cooperation.

According to Dmitry Medvedev, the Union State will undoubtedly develop. “The Union State is a very high integration standard that no other integration association has achieved so far,” he stated.

Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said he believes that the matters discussed on the bilateral basis and during the session of the Union State Council of Ministers on 21 October would be on the agenda of the session of the Union State Supreme State Council at the level of heads of state in December 2014.

A session of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia took place in Minsk on 21 October. There were 35 items on the agenda. In particular, the sides discussed indicative balances of fuel and energy resources for 2014-2015, parameters of the draft Union State budget for 2015, and the operation of the united transport system.

Participants of the session summed up results of the fulfillment of several R&D programs and discussed a draft new program focused on researching and developing high-performance information and computing technologies for increasing and effectively using the resource potential of hydrocarbon raw materials in the Union State of Belarus and Russia (SKIF-NEDRA).
