MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Darya Domracheva clinched gold in 10km pursuit in Ruhpolding, Germany, on 4 March, BelTA has learnt.
The Belarusian denied biathlon golden girl Magdalena Neuner another world title who suffered two misses in the standing position.
Domracheva, who started 16 seconds behind the German after winning silver in the sprint, eventually finished in 29:39.6, 25.1 seconds ahead of Neuner. Russian Olga Vilukhina came in third (1:15.4 behind the winner).
This is the first gold for Darya Domracheva in the adult world championships.
In the previous years the Belarusian won silver in mass start in Russian Khanty-Mansiysk in 2011 and a bronze as part of the Belarusian women’s relay team. In 2008 she took silver in the mixed relay in Ostersund, Sweden.
In the overall standings Belarus is ranked third (1 gold, 1 silver) behind France (2,0,0) and Germany (1,1,1).
