MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – Sergei Vyazovich’s crew of Belarus’ MAZ-SPORTavto team grabbed their first stage win of the 2018 Dakar Rally in the truck category, BelTA has learned.

Sergei Vyazovich set a blistering pace of 5:14:10 as he came in first at Stage 11, 36 seconds ahead of Argentina’s Federico Villagra (Iveco) who moved up to first in the overall standings. The KamAZ truck of the former overall leader, Russia’s Eduard Nikolaev, lost too much time due to u-joint failure. Another Russian crew led by Dmitry Sotnikov (KamAZ-Master) finished third.

Sergei Vyazovich remains third in the general classification after the eleven stages.
