Belarusian Written Language Day described as landmark cultural event

MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to the participants and guests of the Belarusian Written Language Day celebrations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Please accept my cordial greeting on this 25th anniversary edition of the Belarusian Written Language Day which is celebrated in hospitable Brest Oblast this year,” the head of state remarked. “This celebration is a landmark event in the cultural life of the country, an evidence of the beauty and power of the Belarusian language, spiritual traditions of our nation. For many centuries the written language has been passing the eternal ideals of beauty, kindness, justice from generation to generation and has been an invigorating source of wisdom and knowledge, a reliable companion for every person in life,” he added.

The president remarked that on the Belarusian Written Language Day we pay tribute to those who created our culture, promoted enlightenment and Belarusian literature. Our ancestors left a priceless treasure to us – our native language which was used by such outstanding writers as Francisak Bahusevic and Maksim Bahdanovic, Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas, Vladimir Korotkevich and Ivan Melezh.
