Belarusian sends Cosmonautics Day greetings from International Space Station

MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – A native of Belarus, the cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky, who is now on board of the International Space Station (ISS), has sent his Cosmonautics Day greetings to people of Earth, BelTA has learned.

The cosmonaut said: “Space exploration is a true engine that drives the development of the Earth civilization. Booster rockets and spacecraft get better every year. We carry out more and more complicated scientific and medical and biological research. The International Space Station gets improved with new modules. Humankind moves forward. I am convinced that we will establish bases on Moon and Mars one day.”

Oleg Novitsky remarked that 12 April is a holiday for everyone, who loves cosmos and dreams of conquering the universe. “Just look up and stars will become closer!” the cosmonaut said.

12 April has been declared International Day of Human Space Flight upon the initiative of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization. On 12 April 1961 Yuri Gagarin completed the first space flight in the history of mankind.
