Belarusian mass media presence in Internet rising

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – The presence of Belarusian mass media in the Internet is on the rise, Belarusian Information Minister Oleg Proleskovsky said during the opening of the expos Mass Media in Belarus and TIBO 2012 on 25 April.

The official said: “In the modern world information is important. Belarusian mass media are keeping up with the time, vigorously mastering new information technologies”.

In the present conditions the main task of mass media is to find and keep their audience. To do it, they need a quality media product. The Belarusian mass media market grows larger every year. The number of participants in the Mass Media in Belarus expo testifies to that. “The expo is an example of real freedom of speech,” said the Minister.

The Mass Media in Belarus and TIBO 2012 expos are held at the same time this year. The former has gathered over 40 exhibitors from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, China, Cuba, India, and Turkey. Representatives of the countries will be able to share their best practices with colleagues, will be able to demonstrate their achievements in the global information space. The total exhibition area will be larger than 1.5 km2. Every day presentations of printed media, TV and radio channels, and websites will be held along with events timed to the Press Day, the Radio, Television, and Communications Workers Day. Professional meetings, master classes, seminars, roundtable sessions and press conferences will be held.

As part of the program seminars for heads of central and regional mass media and press secretaries will be held to discuss social networking opportunities for conventional mass media, use of social media for information distribution, effective mass media presence in the Internet as a factor to help shape a positive image of Belarus inside the country and abroad.

Products made by nearly 200 companies from 14 countries will be displayed at the 19th international specialized expo and the congress for telecommunication, information and banking technologies TIBO 2012. TIBO 2012 will feature collective booths of the Information Technologies and Communications Ministry, the State Property Committee, the Industry Ministry, Minsk City Hall, the State Committee for Science and Technology, and a collective booth of the main state TV channels. Participants of the expo will demonstrate innovative solutions for various IT branches. The 19th Belarusian congress for information society technologies and a contest of Belarusian Internet websites and services Internet Award TIBO will be held during TIBO 2012.

The 19th international forum for telecommunications, information and banking technologies TIBO 2012 and the 16th international specialized expo Mass Media in Belarus are organized by the Information Technologies and Communications Ministry, the Industry Ministry, the Education Ministry, the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the High-Tech Park Administration, the State Committee for Science and Technology, the Operations and Analysis Center under the President of Belarus, Minsk City Hall, the public association Information Society, the Association of Belarusian Banks, the professional associations Scientific and Technological Association Inforpark, Belinfocom, Cash Registers, Computer Systems, and Trade Technology Equipment, the Telecommunication Industry Union, ZAO Technics and Communications, RUP Press House.
