Belarusian BelAZ rolls out new 290-tonne haul truck

Belarusian BelAZ rolls out new 290-tonne haul truck

ZHODINO, 8 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ presented a new dump truck BelAZ 75320 with the carrying capacity of 290 tonnes on 8 June, BelTA has learned.

BelAZ Deputy Chief Designer Aleksei Lyubetsky noted that the vehicle will fit the niche between the dump trucks with the carrying capacity of 240 tonnes and 360 tonnes. “We didn’t have a dump truck in this range. Now our company will have the world’s broadest lineup of dump trucks. The new vehicle is a sum of the entire experience of our designers and takes into account maximum requirements for operation in all the regions where BelAZ trucks are used these days. Access to maintenance areas is now easier. A lot of new things have been introduced as far as load-bearing components are concerned. The chassis uses cast parts in the places with the greatest load. It has improved the vehicle’s reliability.”

BelAZ has made only one 290-tonne truck yet. Deputy Head of BelAZ’s Non-CIS Sales Department Denis Yaskevich explained: “It is the first specimen. It is now going through trials in the company’s testing ground. Its speed, traction, and braking parameters are being checked. The truck will be initially shipped to Russia for a field test. It may take half a year. Meanwhile, we will be negotiating sales to non-CIS markets.”

Haul trucks with this carrying capacity enjoy a strong demand in North and South Americas, Africa, and Indonesia. In particular, companies from Chile and Peru have expressed their interest in their vehicle. “Penetrating the motherland of our competitors in the USA as well as Canada and Mexico is our goal number one. Namibia and South Africa will not be left aside. This dump truck has a promising future. We will do our best,” said Denis Yaskevich.

A loaded BelAZ 75320 dump truck can weigh as much as 500 tonnes. It is nearly 15m long, over 9m wide, and over 7m high. Its maximum speed is 64kmph. The engine power stands at 2,850hp. The dump bed is heated by engine exhausts. The driver cab can fit two people. The vehicle boasts hydrostatic power steering, a modern LED display for the driver, and a ROPS/FOPS safety system to protect the driver. The large windshield offers an excellent view of the road. The new vehicle boasts a lot of other features, too.
