Belarus, Sudan sign agreement on friendly relations, cooperation

KHARTOUM, 17 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Sudan have signed an agreement on friendly relations and cooperation. The document was signed by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Sudan President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir after the official talks in Khartoum on 17 January, BelTA has learned.

The heads of state also signed a joint statement. The two leaders reaffirmed the common commitment to the development and enhancement of the friendly ties between the two countries in various fields.

The two leaders pointed out the constructive nature of the bilateral relations development and confirmed the need to advance them. The signed agreement on friendly relations and cooperation will be the foundation for these efforts.

Belarus, Sudan sign agreement on friendly relations, cooperationThe sides also expressed interest in the development of mutually beneficial relations between specialized ministries, the strengthening of direct contacts in the SMEs sector, creation of joint ventures in the manufacturing industry, agriculture, mining, food production and pharmaceutics.

Alexander Lukashenko thanked Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir for the warm welcome and invited the President of Sudan to visit Belarus. The invitation was accepted with gratitude.

Apart from that, an intergovernmental agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments was signed in the presence of the presidents.

Belarus, Sudan sign agreement on friendly relations, cooperationThe justice ministries of Belarus and Sudan signed a memorandum of understanding and bilateral cooperation. Another memorandum on cooperation in the energy sector was signed by the Belarusian Energy Ministry and the Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Energy of Sudan.

Belarus and Sudan also signed the program of higher education cooperation development for 2017-2020.
