MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – Belarus offers closer cooperation in the space industry to China, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with President of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) Ma Xingrui on 6 August, BelTA has learnt.
“We have been collaborating with China in this field for many years already and have made some progress. But it is just the beginning. We have even more opportunities ahead, we are ready to assimilate China’s experience and achievements in this area and we are willing to offer our space services to China,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian President underlined that the development of the space industry is of great importance for Belarus, “We attach much significance to this industry not only because we have good scientific traditions and enough specialists, but also because space technologies are an essential part of our national security”.
Addressing the Chinese guest, Alexander Lukashenko emphasized the high level of understanding between Belarus and China. “The great understanding on the highest level enables us to benefit even more from our bilateral cooperation across all the fields and industries. This pertains, among other things, or maybe first of all, to projects in the space industry and highest technologies,” the Belarusian President said.
President of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation Ma Xingrui also pointed to the high level of cooperation in the space industry between Belarus and China and praised the quality of Belarusian space equipment. “Belarus and China have made much progress in the space industry. Belarus supplied China with very good equipment for the Earth remote sensing and we use this equipment on our spacecrafts,” Ma Xingrui said. He expressed hope that the fruitful bilateral cooperation will expand. “I hope the cooperation in the space industry will advance to even a higher level, so that the people of our countries will be able to benefit from our peaceful space projects,” he concluded.
