Alexander Lukashenko sends Victory Day greetings to foreign leaders

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) - In the run-up to the 72nd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent letters of greetings to foreign leaders, notable public figures and heads of integration associations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state remarked that 9 May is a symbol of courage, bravery, patriotism, and honor.

“This holiday reminds us about a common path of the brotherly nations, about the unity of history and spiritual experience, victories and trials,” the message of greetings to Russia President Vladimir Putin reads. “It is symbolic that Belarusians and Russians cherish the memory of the great feat of their ancestors, pass the historical truth about that terrible war from generation to generation, and are building their future together.”

Alexander Lukashenko has also sent letters of greetings to Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, Armenia President Serzh Sargsyan, Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev, Moldova President Igor Dodon, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko, and Georgia President Giorgi Margvelashvili.

Apart from that, the Belarusian head of state has sent letters of greetings to Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, and Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.

Victory Day greetings have been also sent to Chairman of the Executive Committee, Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergei Lebedev, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan.
