Victory Bell consecrated at festival of Orthodox youth of Minsk Eparchy

MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – The Third Festival of Orthodox Youth of the Minsk Eparchy dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held in the town of Volozhin, Minsk Oblast, BelTA learned from the youth affairs department of the Minsk Eparchy of the Belarusian Exarchate, the organizer of the forum.

The event started with Divine Liturgy in the Transfiguration Church in Zaslavl.

About 200 people took part in the religious procession: it began at the ancient church in Zaslavl and finished in the historical-cultural complex Stalin’s Line which became the main venue of the festival. The young participants took part in the concert program and attended Divine Liturgy at night to commemorate the soldiers killed during the war.

Victory Bell was consecrated during the festival. It will be installed next to a chapel, which is under construction, on the initiative of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture and Sports.

The head of the youth affairs department of the Minsk Eparchy, Archdeacon Maxim Logvinov (the organizer of the festival) noted: "This year we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory of the united people. We view the possibility to live in peace and be free as the exceptional mercy of God. To be worthy of the spiritual heritage which we inherited through the ages, which showed through the most in times of the worst hardships, is the task and everyday work of the modern-day youth. To remind about this, to consolidate the Orthodox youth is the goal of the festival.”
