Interactive exhibition of dialogues warstory.by opens in Brest

BREST, 28 July (BelTA) – An interactive exhibition of dialogues warstory.by opened at the Brest Regional History Museum on 28 July, BelTA has learned.

The exhibition was opened on the day of liberation of Brest from the German invaders. The visitors to the exhibition can see the authentic documents, the photos telling about the events of the Great Patriotic War, and also hear the voices of eyewitnesses to the events.

The project was suggested by the Cultural Heritage and Modernity Fund. The project shows the war through the eyes of children –veterans and modern-day youth. “We have been collecting the databank of the stories of ordinary people, witnesses of the events of 70 years ago. We lost a great period of memory. In 80 years it turns into history. But we still have the people who were children during the war, little soldiers, and ghetto prisoners. We record their stories, their personal experiences. The present-day generation of young people has also told the stories of their families, memories of their grandparents,” said Alla Stashkevich, the director of the Cultural Heritage and Modernity Fund.

It is planned that every town and city which will host the warstory.by exhibition will add its exhibits. The Brest Regional History Museum has provided books, photographs, personal belongings of young soldiers for the exhibition. For example, visitors can see the bag which the young partisan Kolya Goishik used to carry mines to derail the Nazi trains.

The organizers of the exhibition also created the website warstory.by. Anyone can visit it and leave his family's war story.

The interactive exhibition of dialogues will be running in Brest until 17 August. Then it will travel around other regions of Belarus.
