Ananich: Truth about the Great Patriotic War should become the youth's property
MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) - The truth about the Great Patriotic War should become the property of the youth and future generations, Information Minister of Belarus Liliya Ananich said at a plenary session of the 10th Belarusian International Media Forum “Partnership for the Future: the Legacy of the Great Victory” on 8 June, BelTA informs.
“The peoples in the post-Soviet space are cemented with the common history, mentality, humanitarian values. The Great Victory is one of the main pages of our common past. Then, 70 years ago, the Soviet Union played the decisive role in the victory over the Nazis. Another important aspect is that uniting in counteracting the common threat to the mankind were countries with various ideologies and political systems. They united and won,” Liliya Ananich said.
According to the minister, the preservation of the historical truth and the counteraction to the efforts to falsify the history and revise the results of the Great Patriotic War are the most important task in this context.
“Our generation is brought up on the deed of the generation of victors. Our fathers and grandfathers went to that war. Many gave their lives in the fight against the Nazis, in the fight for freedom and independence. Today the most important thing is to make the truth about the war the property of today’s youth and the future generations who know about the war from movies and publications in the Internet,” said Liliya Ananich.
