MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – A new stage of the national book reading encouragement project Kniga.BY will be timed to the 500th anniversary of book printing in Belarus. The new stage will begin on 28 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the public organization Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM), one of the project’s organizers.
According to the source, the subject of the Kniga.BY project in 2017 is primarily connected to the Year of Science in Belarus and the celebration of the 500th anniversary of book printing.
The organizers will stage charity actions to collect books for social institutions. Meetings of young Belarusians with writers will be arranged. Bookcrossing book shelves will be installed in public places. Anyone will be able to borrow the books with the project’s logo.
There are plans to arrange a flash mob among Instagram users in order to encourage book reading. The organizers encourage people to join the project by publishing their photos in their personal profile together with their favorite quotes from books and the hashtags #молодежьбеларуси #книгаby #скнигойпожизни.
The Kniga.BY project has been organized by the public organization Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM) and the Union of Writers of Belarus. The project was launched in 2016, which was declared the Year of Culture in the country. The main purpose of the project is to encourage young people to read Belarusian literature and international literature of various genres.
