500 Years of Belarusian Book Printing expo opens at Belarus’ Embassy in Indonesia

MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – An exhibition marking 500 years of the Belarusian book printing and the 135th birthdays of Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas opened at the Belarusian embassy in Indonesia on 10 August, BelTA learned from the diplomatic mission.

The exposition comprises BelTA’s photos depict the famous Belarusian writers and the national artworks. The exhibition also tells about the activity of outstanding enlightener Francysk Skaryna.

According to Charge d’Affaires of Belarus to Indonesia Denis Kovalev, the two countries have been successfully developing relations in a number of areas, including the trade, economic and political sectors.

“We can see a growing mutual interest in the cultural heritage of Belarus and Indonesia. The Belarusian and Indonesian governments signed an agreement on cooperation in culture in October 2015. The exposition about great classics Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas and first book printer Francysk Skaryna in the embassy of Belarus in Jakarta will show the visitors of the diplomatic mission the historical and cultural contribution of our country,” Denis Kovalev said.
