Songs for European Games opening ceremony submitted for public discussion

MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – The songs for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019 have been submitted for public discussion, BelTA learned from the Culture Ministry of Belarus.

Five songs have been shortlisted for the second round of the contest to choose a music theme for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019. These are Winners (music by A. Shirin, lyrics by A. Shirin), Champion (music by D.Karyakin, V.Karyakin, lyrics by D.Karyakin (Litesound Band), Bright Year, Bright You (music by E.Oleinik, lyrics by S.Geraskova), Who If Not Us (music by D.Karpinchik, lyrics by O.Dzumedzei), This Land (music by Yu.Navrotsky (Uzari), lyrics by R.Kolodko).

The authors and performers presented their songs to the jury chaired by People’s Artist of Belarus Vasily Rainchik. The jury included well-known Belarusian singers, composers, representatives of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC), the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, the Sport and Tourism Ministry, the Culture Ministry, the National State TV and Radio Company of Belarus.

Following the second round of the contest, Vasily Rainchik thanked all the authors and performers who took part in the qualifying rounds saying that all songs are good. The jury decided to submit all five songs for public discussion because this song is meant for a big mass event not some vocal song contest. The public opinion will be taken into account.

The poll is available at the website of the Belarusian National State TV and Radio Company of Belarus.

The 2nd European Games due in Minsk on 21-30 June 2019 will feature 189 medal events in 15 sports. The competitions will take place at major sport venues of Minsk including Dinamo Stadium, Minsk Arena, Chizhovka Arena

The official slogan of the games is Bright Year, Bright You.
