Union State seminar in Minsk to draw up recommendations on cooperation in science

MINSK, 28 November (BelTA) - Recommendations regarding the development of scientific and technological collaboration in the Belarus-Russia Union State will be developed during the 51st permanent seminar at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. The seminar is entitled “The development of the common scientific and technological space in the Union State: problems, prospects, innovations”, said Dmitry Zabolotsky, a member of the commission on economic policy of the Belarus-Russia Union State Parliamentary Assembly, vice chairman of the standing commission on industry, fuel and energy complex, transport and communications at the House of Representatives, BelTA has learned.

“The theme of the common scientific and technological space of the Union State is very relevant. I think, we will hear a wide range of views, opinion on the ways of addressing the problems. Based on the results of this seminar we will make recommendations on the development of further cooperation between Belarus and Russia. In each area there are issues requiring discussion. But special attention should be paid to such areas as agriculture and meteorology, the effectiveness of the Union State budget execution,” Dmitry Zabolotsky said. The recommendations will be sent to departments and agencies of the two states, other stakeholders.

The seminar considers the legal framework of the formation of the common scientific and technological space of Belarus and Russia and the main instruments for implementing the social and economic policy of the Union State. The seminar participants discuss the problems of strategic management of innovations and the areas of integration between the national and regional innovation systems of Belarus and Russia, study foreign best practices in implementing innovative projects, cooperation in the field of commercialization of the results of scientific research and technology transfer.

The event is attended by MPs of the Parliamentary Assembly, representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, ministries and departments of Belarus and Russia, academies of science and businessmen of the two countries, and also leaders and researchers of the leading research institutes and universities.

The PA permanent seminar was established on the initiative of the Union State MPs in 2006. The seminar brings together representatives of the scientific community, supporters of the integration of Belarus and Russia, like-minded people in the matters of the Union State development. The event considers in detail the cooperation between Belarus and Russia.
