Photo by the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian FederationMOSCOW, 22 November (BelTA) - The Union State is ready to support the organization of a forum of museum workers of Belarus and Russia, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota told the media on the sidelines of the expert and media forum to discuss the new vectors of humanitarian cooperation in the Union State in Moscow on 22 November, BelTA has learned.

At the forum in Moscow, Director General of the National Art Museum of Belarus Vladimir Prokoptsov spoke about the necessity of organizing a professional meeting for museum workers of the two countries. According to him, museum workers of Belarus and Russia lack professional communication. Vladimir Prokoptsov suggested organizing either a separate event for museum workers or holding it as part of the forthcoming 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Mogilev next year.

Commenting on the initiative, the state secretary of the Union State noted that he welcomes any form of professional interaction. “We will provide any possible and necessary assistance,” Grigory Rapota said. “There are always questions if we will finance the forum. I do not know. It will depend on the departments and ministries of the two states, and, first of all, the finance ministries. If funds are allocated, we will finance the event. If not, we will do our best to help with the organization,” he added.

The state secretary agreed that there is a need for professional communication between Belarusian and Russian museum workers. In his words, such a forum may provide an opportunity to discuss issues related to the exchange of experience, a more active use of modern technology, organization of virtual excursions, and many other things.

The forum to discuss the new vectors of humanitarian cooperation in Union State is running in Moscow on 22-23 November. Taking part in the event are representatives of the humanitarian sectors of Belarus and Russia who have gathered to discuss issues related to museums, libraries, book publishing, and education. The forum was organized by the Union State Permanent Committee and the international news agency Russia Today.
