New initiatives to make Belarus more attractive as tourist destination

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – New initiatives will be launched to make Belarus more attractive as a tourist destination, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media in Brussels, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus is interested in such visa requirements that would allow foreign citizens, primarily businessmen and tourists, to easily visit Belarus and some of its tourist attractions. We have an interest in facilitating these requirements. We are now thinking about what to do next to make Belarus popular for foreign citizens, including those of the neighboring countries. I think that we will bring forward relevant proposals in the near future,” the minister said.

When asked whether Belarus-Poland local border traffic program can become a reality, Vladimir Makei noted that a number of difficulties remain in place due to the need to develop the infrastructure on the state border. He also recalled that Belarus is implementing a similar agreement with Latvia.
