New head of Belarusian state petrochemical concern appointed

MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has authorized the appointment of Andrei Rybakov as the chairman of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko said: “You may have to create another ‘monster’ in Belarus as a united energy company to take care of electricity, oil, natural gas, and the rest. This is why think about it. But for now I’ve decided we shouldn’t rush it.”

Alexander Lukashenko told Andrei Rybakov that his post is as important as a ministerial post, that he will be responsible for the development of the petrochemical industry in Belarus. “We have a colossal petrochemical industry. I don’t have to tell you that. This is why we are going to develop it. While everyone around us is trying to shut things down, the market will need it. We need not only Mogilevkhimvolokno and construction work at Grodno Azot. This is why bear in mind that you are the man responsible for overseeing the industry,” warned the president.

Alexander Lukashenko instructed the minister to work together with Deputy Prime Minister Igor Lyashenko, who is also responsible for overseeing this area.
