Myasnikovich to attend CIS Heads of Government Council meeting in Ashgabat

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich is expected to attend a regular meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council. The meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Belarus in Ashgabat on 21 November, BelTA has learned.

During its chairmanship Belarus has worked out a number of initiatives for further development of the Commonwealth of Independent States that will be submitted for discussion at the meeting in Ashgabat. The Belarusian PM is also expected to meet heads of official delegations to discuss bilateral relations.

The CIS heads of government will consider about 20 draft documents on cooperation in various areas. The meeting participants will take stock of the progress made in the implementation of the agreement on free trade signed on 18 October 2011. The Council will give its assessment to the activity of the intergovernmental council on exploration, use and conservation of mineral resources in 2011-2013, discuss competition and price formation at the markets of oil and oil products. The Premiers will talk over cooperation in nuclear energy.

The meeting will also focus on a set of documents aimed at further development and strengthening of humanitarian relations in the CIS. The matter concerns the plan of priority events in humanitarian cooperation for 2015-2016. The plan comprises about 200 issues related to culture, education, science, information and mass communication, book publishing industry, sport, healthy lifestyle, tourism, and work with the youth.
