Moldova seeks closer trade and economic ties with Belarus

 CHISINAU, 8 December (BelTA) - Moldova seeks closer trade and economic ties with Belarus, Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip said at the meeting with Belarus’ Ambassador to Moldova Sergei Chichuk on 8 December, BelTA learned from the government of Moldova.

Pavel Filip praised the friendly relations between Belarus and Moldova that are based on a pragmatic approach and also noted steady progress in bilateral cooperation. The Moldovan head of government said that his working visit to Minsk scheduled for 11-12 December would be a good opportunity to discuss the current agenda.

For his part, Belarus Ambassador Sergei Chichuk drew attention to the progress in various areas of bilateral cooperation. The diplomat expressed the readiness of Belarus to further develop a constructive dialogue with Moldova at all levels.

The parties welcomed the increase in bilateral trade this year and noted the readiness to hold the next session of the Belarusian-Moldovan intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in the first half of 2018. Air transportation, agricultural and industrial sectors and cooperation at the local level were named among the priority areas of interaction. Direct contacts between businessmen of the two countries will be encouraged.
