Minsk, Budapest to expand contacts

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – Minsk and Budapest have agreed to expand contacts in the economic, cultural and tourism sectors. The prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed at a meeting between Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets and State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Istvan Ijgyarto in the Hungarian capital, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk City Hall.

According to Andrei Shorets, successful partnerships between the two cities can become not only an example for other regions, but also a so-called motivator for more actions. “I am confident that in the near future we will not only determine the areas of cooperation interesting for both the capitals but will also agree on concrete joint projects. The ministries of foreign affairs of the countries should play an important part in this process,” the mayor said.

Istvan Ijgyarto, for his part, emphasized that the direct cooperation between the cities is a fairly new and promising trend in the Belarusian-Hungarian relations.

The Days of Minsk are underway in Budapest on 19-22 April. The program of the activities will include the Belarusian-Hungarian business forum to display the trade, economic, industrial, investment and tourism potential. The 21st district Csepel of Budapest and Partizansky District of Minsk are set to sign an agreement to promote cooperation in economy and trade, science and education, culture, literature and arts, sports and tourism, social affairs and health, youth and sports, information.
