Mikhail Myasnikovich plans to visit China

Mikhail Myasnikovich plans to visit ChinaST PETERSBURG, 14 October (BelTA) – Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich plans to visit China after the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The matter was discussed at the meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the China National People's Congress Zhang Ping on 14 October, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed that, first of all, thanks to sincere relations between the authorities of Belarus and China the two countries have been steadily developing reliable all-round contacts. “We have a very high level of bilateral cooperation which helps us move towards the development of a society of common interests suggested by China President Xi Jinping,” chairman of the Council of the Republic said.

He conveyed his gratitude to the head of the Chinese parliament for the invitation to visit the country after the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and stressed that the preparations for the visit are in full swing. “I think we have a lot to discuss and talk over the issues of further strengthening of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich.

“I would be grateful if you, to the extent of your capacities, assisted my meeting with China President Xi Jinping during the visit. We have met several times when I worked as the Belarusian premier. This is a great person and meetings with him enrich and add a new impetus to cooperation and an interest in the projects initiated by the Chinese president,” he noted.

Belarus also suggested signing a joint communique during Mikhail Myasnikovich’s visit. The draft document has already been sent to the Standing Committee of the China National People's Congress. The signing of the corresponding agreement is envisaged at the level of the parliamentary groups of friendship.

“We are actively working on the implementation of the agreements that have been reached during the visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to China in May. A number of agreements are in the pipeline. I think we can discuss them as well. If there are any questions, we can discuss them during the visit,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China is expected to open in Beijing on 18 October 2017.
