MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – It is needed to step up mineral exploration, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he listened to the report of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Andrei Kovkhuto on 30 July, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that this issues has been discussed already, but the previous government led by the former prime minister did not make a difference in this field.
The President pointed out the need to improve mineral exploration. “I do not believe that we do not have big oil and natural gas deposits. Russia extracts a lot of oil and natural gas as well as precious metals in similar territories. All that creates the foundation of wellbeing and sustainability of any economy in any state,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
Alexander Lukashenko said that this meeting is held before the session to discuss mineral exploration in Belarus which will take place at the level of the head of state this year. The head of state stressed that the session will focus on the prospects of mineral exploration, not only on the current state of affairs. “I would like to know what we have now and what we will have tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. You should submit an action plan regarding the ways to step up mineral exploration,” the President demanded. He said that he will keep an eye on these issues.
