Lukashenko to partake in meeting of BRICS leaders with presidents of invited countries

UFA, 9 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko will take part in the meeting of BRICS leaders with presidents of invited countries to discuss the most urgent issues of global politics, economy, and finance on 9 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian head of state.

Alexander Lukashenko will also have a number of bilateral meetings.

BRICS is an interstate association of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (joined in December 2010). The Russian side was the initiator of the association. In April 2015 Russia assumed presidency of BRICS association. The country is focused on turning BRICS into the mechanism of strategic cooperation on the key issues of global politics and economy.

BRICS influence relies on the growing economic power of its members, their role as one of the driving forces of the global economic development, availability of natural resources. BRICS member states are included in the leading international organizations and associations (the United Nations, G20, Non-Aligned Movement, the Group of 77) and regional associations. The relations between BRICS members are bases on the UN Charter, universally acknowledged principles and norms of international law, and the principles outlined by its participants at the 2011 summit. These are the principles of openness, pragmatism, solidarity, non-bloc policy.
