Lukashenko presents state awards to distinguished Belarusians

MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – In the run-up to the main national holiday, Independence Day, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko presented state awards to Belarusian military, workers of agribusiness, figures of art, scientists and teachers, healthcare workers, athletes and coaches, BelTA has learned.

“We award people of different professions and ages. But you are united by the main things, which are selfless service to the Fatherland and productive labor for the benefit of the Belarusian nation,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that in modern conditions special attention has to be drawn to the country’s defense capacity, efficiency of the Armed Forces, military security. “Therefore, we regularly hold military exercises, improve the system of troops management, provision of modern weapons, training of officers and enlisted personnel,” the Belarusian leader stressed. The Orders for Service to the Homeland were conferred on officers for successful military exercises and maintenance of high combat readiness.

The President said that in present-day complicated economic conditions the best practices of Belarusian advanced farms which are true beacons and good examples for the entire industry both in Belarus and abroad are especially useful.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that such enterprises as Ostromechevo, Chernovtsy, Borkovsky, Lyakhovichsky, Vidomlyanskoye, Ozeritsky-Agro, Prudniki from Brest Oblast, Minsk Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast gather good grain harvests, ramp up the output of milk, meat, fruit and vegetables. “These enterprises show good gross figures, increase revenues and have a stable financial standing,” the President stressed.

Orders and honorary titles were bestowed upon directors of the abovementioned enterprises, a milker of the agricultural company Rassvet (Kirovsk District), a farm machinery operator of OAO Dovatorsky (Sharkovshchina District) and an engineer of OAO Lozovichi (Kletsk District).

Many awards were bestowed upon renowned figures of art. The head of state presented state decorations to artists of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater, the National Theater of Belarusian Drama, the Tsitovich National Academic People’s Choir, the Grodno Oblast Puppet Theater and other institutions. “The state appreciates your contribution to the development of the national culture, spiritual enrichment of our nation,” the President added.

The President’s official letters of thanks and awards were conferred on a number of scientists and teachers whose projects are used in the manufacturing industry and education process. The President also awarded healthcare workers, athletes and coachers whose work is an example of a healthy lifestyle and a means for creating Belarus’ attractive image.

In the run-up to Independence Day Alexander Lukashenko extended his best greetings to the awardees. “May these awards stimulate you to work hard for the benefit of our nation,” the President said.
