Hope for adapting Belarus-Venezuela technology cooperation experience to Africa

VIENNA, 28 November (BelTA) – Belarus expects that the positive experience of technology cooperation with Venezuela will be in demand in other regions, too, including in Africa. Ambassador of Belarus and the country’s resident representative in international organizations in Vienna Alena Kupchyna made the relevant statement during the plenary session of the 17th session of the UNIDO General Conference on 28 November, BelTA has learned.

Alena Kupchyna said: “Belarus has considerable scientific, technical, and manufacturing potential. This is why we attach special significance to the implementation of joint projects in developing countries within the framework of the East-South initiative on encouraging technology sharing. We already have the positive experience of transferring technologies in civil engineering and the extraction of mineral resources in Venezuela. We hope that this experience will be in demand in countries of other regions, including Africa.”

The ambassador noted that, on the whole, Belarus is satisfied with results of cooperation with UNIDO in implementing the 2013-2017 bilateral cooperation program. The country’s expert potential grew stronger, which is used to prepare investment projects in the production sector, develop clean manufacturing technologies, certification and quality management of industrial products.

The diplomat spoke highly of UNIDO projects for modernizing the production of automobile components and the establishment of an agribusiness park in Grodno Oblast. The projects are being implemented in Belarus with Russia’s financial aid. “It is important for us that these projects are meant to bolster the competitive ability of the domestic production sector, expand the access of our innovative and organic products to the domestic and foreign markets, increase the demand for services of Belarusian experts on foreign markets of intellectual products,” pointed out Alena Kupchyna.
