MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – The decades of peace and creation made it possible for Belarus to turn into a prosperous state, the President of Belarus said in his message of congratulations on Victory Day, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.
“This day, which is embodiment of fortitude and courage of the Soviet people, takes a special place in the life of every Belarusian. The Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 claimed millions of lives and became an appalling tragedy for all Soviet people. We bow our heads honoring the fallen,” the head of state said.
“In times of severe hardships the Belarusians together with the brotherly nations of the Soviet Union, allies of the anti-Hitler coalition stopped the spread of fascism, kept faith that the good would prevail over evil and victory over the aggressor was inevitable and gave every nation an opportunity to choose its own path of development,” the message of congratulations says.
“Blizzards of that horrible war hammered away long time ago. The decades of peace and creation let us rebuild the destroyed cities and villages, turn our wounded Belarusian land into bloomy fields and gardens, build a prosperous state where one can live, learn and work without fear, be confident about their future,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
