Brest twins with China’s Baiyin

BREST, 26 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ Brest concluded a twinning agreement with China’s Baiyin (Gansu Province) on 26 July, BelTA has learned.

The document was signed by Brest First Vice Mayor Vadim Kravchuk and Deputy Secretary of the People's Government of Baiyin Zhang Guorong. The agreement envisages cooperation in industry, trade, social sector, environment, local government and youth policy.

The parties agreed to exchange delegations, advanced experience, organize exhibitions and fairs of companies of Brest and Baiyin. The parties also plan to implement joint projects.

“Our relationship began in 2016. During this visit we would like to explore Brest, to study the potential for further cooperation. Special focus is on trade, logistics as our cities are important hubs on the new Silk Road,” Zhang Guorong said. For his part, Vadim Kravchuk added that the partnership agreement will be another step towards strengthening interregional relations between Belarus and China.

Brest is hosting the first economic forum of sister cities and partners. Attending the event are 13 foreign delegations. About 20 cooperation agreements in various fields were signed during the plenary part of the event. In the afternoon, the foreign visitors will get familiar with the infrastructure of Brest, visit the enterprises, organizations and institutions.

The economic forum is dedicated to the 999th anniversary of Brest.
