Belarusian senators ratify international agreements

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) - Belarusian senators ratified a set of international agreements on 27 October, BelTA has learned.

Members of the Council of the Republic approved ten international agreements. These include the treaties with Egypt on extradition, on mutual legal assistance in civil and economic affairs, the additional protocol to the Anti-Doping Convention, the intergovernmental agreement with Georgia on promotion and mutual protection of investments, the treaty on friendly relations and cooperation between Belarus and Sudan.

Sergei Rakhmanov, the chairman of the Council of the Republic’s permanent commission on international affairs and national security, drew media’s attention to a wide range of the documents that were ratified. “This testifies to the active position of Belarus in the international arena. This shows a single strategy which is aimed at strengthening the positions of Belarus in the international arena on the political level, expanding economic cooperation, ensuring the protection of the rights of our citizens abroad,” he said.

The Council of Republic approved the amendments to the law on veterans which establish such a category as veterans of financial investigations bodies of the State Control Committee. They will be entitled to the relevant benefits, rights and guarantees. The upper house of parliament also took note of the two decrees, including Decree No. 6, according to which it is now allowed to set up professional unions in the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone.
