Belarusian MPs to pay return visit to Sudan in November

MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – A Belarusian parliamentary delegation will pay a return visit to Sudan in November 2017, Speaker of Belarus’ House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko noted at the session of the Council of the House of Representatives on 28 September, BelTA has learned.

According to the speaker, the official visit of Sudanese MPs led by Speaker of Sudan’s National Assembly Ibrahim Ahmed Omer was productive. As a result of the visit, Belarus’ House of Representatives and Sudan’s National Assembly signed a memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation.

“The visit has laid the groundwork for cooperation in many fields, namely banking, mechanical engineering, agriculture, mineral raw materials processing, light industry, and forestry. Our return visit to Sudan is scheduled for mid-November. We are focusing on trade and economy while preparing it. The main goal is to achieve specific agreements and launch economic projects,” Vladimir Andreichenko emphasized.

He also stressed that Belarusian MPs led by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Boleslav Pirshtuk are set to visit Andorra in October 2017 to take part in the OSCE PA autumn session. “We should be speaking out louder and more often in this organization. We also need to initiate our resolutions in the OSCE PA more actively,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

“We should thoroughly prepare for the 2018 OSCE PA summer session in Berlin. We have enough time to think about the subject matter and the text of Belarus’ resolution,” the speaker noted.

Vladimir Andreichenko hopes for Belarus’ productive participation in the 137th session of the Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union due in St Petersburg from 14 to 18 October. In his opinion, Belarus should take advantage of this forum to hold as many meetings and negotiations as possible, enter into new contracts and strengthen the existing ones. The session will offer a good opportunity to meet with fellow MPs from Africa, Asia, and Latin America, he added.
