Belarusian humanitarian aid arrives in Vietnam

MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ humanitarian aid was delivered to Vietnam on 21 January, BelTA learned from the Twitter account of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The Belarusian humanitarian aid (the total of 42 tonnes) has been delivered to the Vietnamese region that suffered most from the tropical typhoons,” the ministry said.

The cargo included food, warm clothes, blankets, tents, and a power generator.

Belarus decided to send relief to Vietnam after the latter was hit by tropical typhoons, which flooded over 100,000 households. The bad weather killed about 100 people. The Vietnamese government estimates that over 4.3 million people suffered from the bad weather and 395,000 people are in need of help.

The decision to provide humanitarian aid to Vietnam was made in accordance with the regulations of the Republic of Belarus on international humanitarian assistance. According to the resolution, Belarus will provide the material assets to the tune of Br327,575.48 (food, tents, mobile diesel power plant, and so on.) The Emergencies Ministry and the Transport and Communications Ministry secured the transportation of humanitarian aid to Vietnam.
