Belarusian Foreign Ministry condemns New York terrorist attack

MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has resolutely condemned the terrorist attack, which happened in New York, USA the day before, BelTA has learned.

The Twitter message says: “We resolutely condemn the terrorist assault on residents and foreign guests of New York. We offer sincere condolence to friends and families of the dead.”

Eight people were killed and more than 12 were injured as a result of the terrorist attack in Manhattan, New York on 31 October. The authorities classified what had happened as a terrorist attack.

The terrorist rented a pickup truck to travel through several city blocks, driving along the bicycle-only lane and running over everyone on the way. The truck stopped only after it ran into a school bus. When the driver emerged with a weapon in his hands, police fired at him. The terrorist was delivered to hospital with an abdominal injury.

The weapon of the terrorist turned out to be a paintball rifle. According to the CNN, the criminal was shouting “Allahu Akbar”. It was revealed later that he had a note on him, saying he had acted in the name of the terrorist group Islamic State.
