Belarusian delegation visits Russian nuclear power plant to study security practices

MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – A delegation of the Interior Troops of the Belarusian Interior Ministry visited the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant in Russia in order to get familiar with how the security of important government institutions, special cargoes is organized and how security solutions, which are designed to keep important installations safe, are commissioned, representatives of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant information and public relations office told BelTA.

The Belarusian delegation went on a tour of all the operational power-generating units of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant, including an innovative Generation III+ one. A conference took place during the visit. Deputy Commanding Officer of the Central District of the Russian National Guard Anatoly Yakubovsky noted that cooperation with the Belarusian interior troops had been in progress since the Soviet times. “This time our colleagues have come to learn how the security of such an important installation like the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant is organized. Cutting-edge practices are used at the site,” he noted.

An innovative design featuring Generation III+ VVER-1200 reactors has been chosen for building the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The same design is used to build units of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant and the Leningrad nuclear power plant. The Belarusian nuclear power plant will have two power-generating units with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW.
