Belarusian delegation partakes in cybersecurity summit in Tallinn

TALLINN, 29 May (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov took part in a cybersecurity summit held under the aegis of the Munich Security Conference in Tallinn, Estonia on 29 May, BelTA has learned.

The summit gathered about 150 civil servants and experts from over 30 countries, representatives of the European Commission, the Council of Europe, the OSCE, NATO, and other international organizations. The program included panel sessions on the legal regulation in the sphere of cybersecurity and approaches to cybersecurity on the global scale.

The summit was organized as part of a series of conferences on cybersecurity. The conferences have been held since 2012 in various countries, with high-ranking representatives of political, military, scientific, and business circles taking part in them.

It was the first time Belarus’ representatives had taken part in such an event. The head of the delegation made a speech at a panel session to deliver information about progress in implementing the Belarus president’s initiative to renew a broad dialogue on security. He also mentioned Belarus’ readiness to host a cybersecurity summit in Minsk.

Evgeny Shestakov also met with Chairman of the Munich Security Conference Wolfgang Ischinger. The sides discussed progress in preparing for a meeting of the Munich Security Conference core group in Minsk this year.

The Belarusian delegation also visited the innovation center E-Showroom and a presentation of Estonian accomplishments in the area of digitalization.
