Belarus, Ukraine’s Lviv plan to ramp up tourist exchange

MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol paid a visit to Ukraine’s Lviv Oblast and met with Lviv Mayor Andrei Sadovy. The sides discussed the ways to boost tourist exchange between Belarus and Lviv, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian embassy in Ukraine.

Igor Sokol and Andrei Sadovy touched upon all fields of Belarus-Ukraine cooperation, including trade, economy, housing and utilities, mechanical engineering, humanitarian ties, culture and also outlined practical measures to boost tourist exchange, the press service noted.

Igor Sokol also met with the Lviv Oblast Governor, Oleg Sinyutko. The sides hailed the high potential of Belarus-Ukraine regional dialogue and confirmed their readiness to expand bilateral trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and other relations.

Igor Sokol also met with President of the Lviv Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dmitry Aftanas. The sides reviewed the cooperation of the Lviv Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the branches of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce in Industry in Grodno, Minsk, and Vitebsk. The sides stressed the necessity to implement the cooperation agreement between the two chambers of commerce and considered the organization of mutual visits.

Igor Sokol also met with representatives of the business community. The sides analyzed the Belarus president’s Decree No. 466. The decree establishes that the Ukrainian businessmen who buy Belarusian transport vehicles can be provided with concessional loans. These loans then can be partially repaid by the Belarusian side in Ukrainian banks.

Igor Sokol also met with Chairman of the Lviv Oblast Council Alexander Ganushin. The sides discussed the prospects of Belarus-Ukraine interparliamentary cooperation, the status and prospects of trade, economic and cross-border cooperation.

Igor Sokol and Oleg Sinyutko inaugurated a new exhibition project “Be Like Kupala. Poet and Style” set up in accordance with the cooperation agreement between the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum and the Lviv History Museum. The exhibition represents the poet’s many-sided image and his great cultural and educational legacy.
