The statement was made during a working meeting between Chairman of the Belarusian State Border Committee Anatoly Lappo and head of the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service Petrо Tsyhykal in Kiev on 14 November, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee of Belarus.

“The parties exchanged information on the situation on the Belarusian-Ukrainian state border and its security status this year. The heads of the agencies reviewed the results of the special joint border operation Border 2017 and recognized the need to continue the practice of holding such events in 2018,” the committee informed.

The heads of the border agencies noted that the results of operational activities show that border security on the jointly guarded frontier is ensured at the appropriate level. The parties praised the pilot contact point Pinsk-Zhitomir as effective and highlighted the need to maximize its capacity for the protection of the joint section of the state border, taking into account the internal interdepartmental sepcificities.
