Belarus to stress importance of fulfilling Minsk accords on Ukraine at OSCE PA session in Helsinki

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – Belarus will emphasize the importance of fulfilling Minsk accords on Ukraine at the OSCE PA session in Helsinki which is due to take place on 5-9 July, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Viktor Guminsky told media on 26 June, BelTA informs.

Commenting on the fact that the draft resolution that can be adopted at the OSCE PA session in Helsinki stresses the importance of fulfilling Minsk agreements on the Ukrainian crisis and inadmissibility of their violation, Viktor Guminsky noted: “We will not just support it. We will voice our position so that this 24th session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly would not take us apart, first of all Russia and Ukraine, but make steps forward to the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Parliamentarians, the same as politicians, should become a basis for the implementation of the commitments under Minsk accords. We will submit the corresponding proposal,” he said.

The draft resolution also suggests condemning Russia’s actions in respect to Crimea. According to Viktor Guminsky, Belarus is not going to support this proposal. “We will follow our common position on the issue. We did not vote on the issue in the UN and the Eastern Partnership (at the Riga summit - BelTA). We stated we could not vote on this point,” said the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives.
