Belarus to put forward regional projects at EaP summit

MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – Belarus plans to suggest a number of regional projects at the forthcoming summit of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) in Brussels, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media on 6 October, BelTA has learned.

“We are not just working them out. We have already sent the relevant proposals to the EU services which are responsible for the Eastern Partnership initiative. We believe that the key feature of our partnership is that this initiative should be of applied relevance, it should be aimed at achieving concrete results. Therefore, we have proposed a number of regional projects that could be implemented within the framework of this initiative,” the minister said.

“These are the projects that are of interest to Belarus and the neighboring countries, and they are aimed at obtaining concrete results, first of all, in such important areas as transit, transport infrastructure, trade and economic cooperation, and others,” Vladimir Makei said.

The minister also noted that there had been no invitations to the summit from its organizers yet. "Despite the fact that this issue has long been discussed and raised by all the member countries of the Eastern Partnership, there are no invitations yet. I think, however, that the invitations will be sent in the near future,” said the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs.
