Belarus to attend session of UN Commission on Population and Development in New York

MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) - Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas will attend the 51st session of the UN Commission on Population and Development in New York on 9-13 April, Dmitry Mironchik, head of the information and digital diplomacy office, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told a press briefing on 4 April, BelTA has learned.

The deputy minister is also set to take part in the annual meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Chernobyl, the session of the UN General Assembly on the resolution on the International Association of Permanent Representatives to the UN, and a roundtable discussion on support to the natural family, population, and migration.

The diplomat is also expected to meet with the UNDP leadership. The sides will discuss the current state and prospects of interaction, including international technical cooperation.

During the visit to New York, Andrei Dapkiunas is expected to put a special focus on the further promotion of the Belarus-authored initiative to support the natural family, develop the international Chernobyl cooperation and coordinate role of Belarus, and also on topical matters of international technical cooperation.
