MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) - Representative of Belarus’ Armed Forces of Belarus will take part in a seminar on the confidence-building measures in the military and political dimension in Astana (Kazakhstan), BelTA learned from the press service of the Defense Ministry.

The seminar will take place on 10-13 October on the initiative of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

CICA is an intergovernmental forum for enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia. It is based on the recognition that there is close link between peace, security and stability in Asia and in the rest of the world.

CICA currently unites twenty-six member states which cover approximately 90% of the territory and population of the continent. Eight countries, including Belarus, and four international organizations, including the UN, have observer status. For becoming a member of CICA, a state must have at least a part of its territory in Asia. The Member States, while affirming their commitment to the UN Charter, believe that peace and security in Asia can be achieved through dialogue and cooperation leading to a common indivisible area of security in Asia where all states co-exist peacefully and their peoples live in peace, freedom and prosperity.
